We use a variety of techniques to encourage the children to take an active part in both speaking and listening to a modern foreign language: these include games, role-play, books which can be shared on the interactive whiteboard, puppets, recordings of native speakers and songs (particularly action songs).

We hope that by learning a modern foreign language in our school  children will:

 gain an interest in learning other languages;

 find another language enjoyable and fun;

 be aware that language has structure, and that the structure differs from one language to another;

 develop their awareness of cultural differences;

 develop their speaking and listening skills;

 lay the foundations for future study.
